Module 17: Preservation of Digital Evidence Part I

Prior to analyzing and investigating any digital data, proper extraction techniques must be followed in order to preserve any potential evidence contained within the device. Each device will have specific requirements for doing so. Once extracted, the potential evidence must also be authenticated in order to be determined as original. Only then can proper analysis of the potential evidence be examined and analyzed for evidentiary value.

Module 18: Preservation of Digital Evidence Part II

Once a proper extraction is complete, examination and analysis can begin. Investigators must understand the techniques required to locate and interpret the data gathered.
